Following the news that our president was rejected from the Rhode Island School Of Design last year, people are beginning to worry this may lead to some kind of historical repetition or, at least, an odd coincidence of events.

Therefore, we at Tomorrow Today thought we’d run through a few quick tips on how to deal with rejection, in any form:

1. Acknowledge and accept your feelings. You may feel like crying, but remember this makes you weak, so instead you should turn to anger, maybe take your feelings out on those closest to you or your employees. It’s healthy to let these feelings out, even on others.

2. Self-Compassion: Remember that you did all you could and you are excellent in your own way, which means that it’s everyone else who is wrong and they will pay for this. In this situation, you could perhaps cut their funding.

3. Seek Support: It’s always a good idea to find other people who are going through the same thing you are, so you can join together and plot your revenge. The more, the better.

4. Shift Your Perspective: Being rejected often isn’t a reflection of your worth, but rather someone else’s perspective, so rather than dwell on the outcome you could track down the person who rejected you and teach them why they are wrong.

5. Embrace New Opportunities: You can see this rejection as a learning experience, and grow by evaluating how this can change in the future by ensuring that all the people who criticized and mocked you will not be a part of the new world.

As always, we hope you take this attention to heart, and truly believe that if you have no special skills or abilities, you can always make yourself important by pretending to be until a cult forms around you.
