Worries about food shortage, immigration and economic disparity are on the tip of the nation’s tongues, and the U.S. government appears to be well aware of this growing tension. To solve these problems, officials are revising historical documentation to find secure solutions that have worked time and time again.
In line with their proposals to keep traditional and conservative values at the forefront of their policy-making, government officials are looking to the past to find tried-and-true solutions to combat modern problems that have popped up throughout history.
One government official, Rep. Austen Wiles, commented: “We’re going as far back as the early 18th century, when our country was still growing, to search for fixes that led to what made America into the powerhouse it is today”. According to Mr. Wiles, they have been reviewing classical political literature by famous authors such as J. Swift, who proposed a solution for famine in Ireland in 1729. His ideas quickly took the country by storm at the time, and became a topic of conversation for people from every social class on how society can come together as a whole, with everyone helping each other grow stronger and becoming a functioning society.
Traditional values have always been a vital topic for our current government, and to steady the advance of progressive attitudes and strengthen our resolve, we as a nation must be prepared to truly understand how our forefathers built America up from nothing. It is only by recognising the sweat, blood and tears shed in the past, by appreciating how difficult life used to be, that we can ready ourselves to take a step backwards into the future.
